So as it happens, I've decided I'm going to settle, for the time being, in Los Angeles. True, it is not Chloe's home, but I have a few relatives there, and I do find there is more to do there. No offense to those who live in San Francisco, as I've visited it many times and enjoyed it, but I've always liked Los Angeles more. No accounting for taste.

Dare I say it, but I miss Salem. Sad that I won't be going back...

There is nothing quite like a tour of your...well, not quite hometown.. Granted, things are quite different to what Chloe remembers San Francisco as, but it's almost identical. I may even visit more often; it's quite interesting to see how the city changes everytime I visit. And I do believe I have a few relatives out on the west coast anyway. A pleasant experience, certainly.

I recieved a rather interesting call the other day from...well, they didn't say, but they sounded female, so I have my ideas and theories. Possibly a fangirl. I wasn't even sure those existed for Chloe, but I guess they do.

But they were quite excited to meet me, apparently.

Reflecting on what has occured over the past few days...I have realized how lucky I was, and still am. It does not lessen the sting of of the tragedy, however. I am almost certain that people I knew, people I assisted in the store while they were passing through the town or on vacation for the summer- are gone.

Still, one cannot allow the sadness and misery to overcome themselves. We keep moving on, if only because we cannot do anything else.

I found a marvelous thing while shopping today: noise cancelling headphones. I've never bought them before, since I've never thought they would work, but they do! I have half a mind to wear them while working in the store so I can play dumb whenever a customer gets a little snippy. Of course, they're rather ostentatious, but still, they're quite amazing.

Now this...is quite perplexing.

I think Christmas is the only time of the year where we have ham for dinner. It's always turkey or chicken or some other form of meat.  How peculiar.  Possibly because ham's quite rich, really.

Merry Christmas to all. If you have the time off like I do, you are quite lucky, as I notice quite a few places are still open. Shameful, really.

Quite surreal that the end of the year is almost here. How the time flies! I don't have any plans, other than possibly going to watch the fireworks that everyone does, weather permitting of course. So far, it does seem like it'll be at least tolerable. Shame it can't be like that for the rest of the country; I heard about Iowa getting hit badly by snow recently.

That most dreaded of days for retailers approaches us swiftly.

I am, of course, talking about Black Friday. It's still a relatively busy day for us in the shop, but most of our profits in the year come from October. I'm thankful that we are lucky enough to not require an early opening, however.

I do think that is the last time I take a suggestion from my siblings as to what to wear for a costume. The odds of me needing to go to the dentist in the coming days are extremely high I'm afraid... hopefully I may only need fillings and not pulling, as that would be dreadful.

Ahoy, friends! Who's ready for some ADVENTURE? Is Candied Island anywhere near here? Or is it in the other direction?

It has come to my realization that I have a very shoddy grasp of time. I woke up today convinced it was still September. Never mind the fact that it's been October for over a week now. And if that wasn't enough, the Christmas supplies are coming in. I imagine soon we'll be ordering them right after Christmas for the next one!

I do think I've managed to calm Chloe down from last week, but she's still annoyed. I think a visit to the clothes store is necessary.  Yes it is. I had no idea she would get so angry over this. I thought she didn't even like it.  I told you...it was still my show. And they ended it on a cliffhanger!

If anybody has directions to the ABC Family office, you probably shouldn't give them to me. I can't be held responsible for what I do with them.

Ah, yes. Threatening bodily harm because your show was cancelled. I thought you didn't even like it, Miss King. IT WAS STILL MY SHOW!

There was an absolutely dreadful young lady in our store this Friday just gone. She tried to say that we'd given her a defective piece of merchandise when she had clearly broken it herself. This would have been bad enough, but she didn't even have a reciept. Luckily for us, though, our reputation in the local area is quite good and she was easily disproven before anything happened. Though I must say I needed to go for a run after it all.

It's nice to finally be getting back into the schedule that I'm used to. Obviously the store's not open today, but we'll be there anyway, decorating it for Halloween. It never hurts to prepare early! Most of the sales happen on the day, too. Harried tourists looking for knick knacks, I think. Well, good on them, it pays the bills!

Well. That was certainly an eventful week. I daresay I barely noticed the earthquake, though. I suppose it comes from having a resident of San Francisco residing inside you. That's what you call an earthquake? C'mon, the trams are shakier than that! Now, the hurricane or the tropical storm or the whatever it's being called now, that I did notice, if only because of the fact that the mass transit in Boston was closed for a time. Can't remember the last time that happened.

Seeing your source material on the best seller list comes as somewhat of a shock. A nice one, no doubt, but still a shock. It makes up for that horrible ending the television adaptation had for it's first season. Never have I ever been so glad it didn't end like that originally. It's quite hard to find it enjoyable as it is. The misery merely makes it worse.

I do love this time of year. It's when we start getting out the Halloween stuff. I know, it's still August, but one can never start too early. After all, the day after Halloween, the Christmas stuff goes up in it's place. Which is all well and good, of course, but we never seem to do much business around Christmas. The mind boggles as to why.

I cannot for the life of me understand why there is rioting in London right now, but I do hope no more people are injured or even killed. Though unfortunately my sister informed me earlier today that England has a history of rioting every now and then. I am not sure how exactly she seems to think that three incidents in 30 years is a 'history' but I suppose it's notable.
